Child Psychology Sessions – What’s Involved?

Barb Kelly_Consultations

Initial appointments are an opportunity to get to know each other. The child and family are involved in the first session and parents are usually involved in most sessions. We will chat a little about your family and then get into what brought you to psychology and how I may help you. This is a chance for kids to get comfortable in the setting and for us to get to know each other. If we decide we are a good match, I then go and design a program that is just right for you. I have been using telehealth/ video conferencing to provide therapy for over 3 years throughout Australia. Research supports the benefits of telehealth – it has the same outcomes as face to face therapy. When accessing therapy in person may be difficult due to travel, health or the current Covid-19 restrictions, telehealth may be appropriate.

I have provided training and supervision on using video conferencing in therapy for psychologists in Australia and around the world.  Check out the recorded webinar on the topic, as well as some other practical exercises to support children through telehealth.  For more information on how I use video-conferencing for sessions with children, read here. What do we bring to the session?Expand

Remember to bring your referral from your GP or any other relevant paperwork.
